FORT WASHINGTON -- On Saturday, October 1, Germantown Academy hosted the second-annual Ginny Hofmann Sports Day (aka GH44) as a tribute to Hofmann's many contributions to athletics at GA. All six fall varsity girls teams were in attendance, with four competing. Cross country and tennis were unable to compete due to the weather. 

Field Hockey: The Patriots hosted Mount Saint Joseph Academy to open the day's competition and responded phenomenally. The Magic recorded the game's first goal off a penalty corner with 11:18 to play in the first quarter, but GA responded one minute later to even the score. After multiple penalty corners of their own, the Patriots took a 2-1 lead as time expired in the first. GA remained in control the rest of the way, scoring three more times to secure a 5-1 win. 

Soccer: Looking to go 2-0 against Hill on the season, Germantown Academy got off to a hot start. Anna Weber '26 buried a penalty kick before Madison Kerest '24 doubled the lead for the Patriots midway through the first half. Hill got one back before the half, but second-half goals by Mia Raven '23 and Taylor Weiss '23 put the game out of reach. 

Volleyball: GA dropped the first set to Gwynedd Mercy Academy, 25-2, before taking the next two (25-19, 27-25). The Monarchs forced a fifth set, but the Patriots took control and clinched the win. 

Water Polo: The Patriots battled hard against Hill School, but fell 13-10. GA fought back from an early 3-0 deficit but found themselves trailing 6-5 at halftime. The Patriots tacked on five goals in the second half, but were unable to get over the hump. Germantown Academy will travel to Hill on Oct. 26.
